The work of Andrea Cucinotta is the result of the unconscious contemporary creative action that, drawing from the stimuli of his personal experiences, finds in the representation on canvas the right tool to convey his thoughts. Completely devoid of any trace, but guided solely by emotional, visual, olfactory, and tactile memories, the artist reproduces environments and situations that effectively engage the observer’s senses, transporting them into a dimension of absolute familiarity and comfort. A chair, a rug, a lamp, a painting, objects and tools of everyday use are the furnishings of a microcosm where human presence is felt but never depicted, with the intent to give voice to the actions performed, absent from view, yet captured through their placement in space.
The colours and construction techniques used in the works thus become necessary elements and translate Cucinotta’s desire to bring to life a simple story arranged on multiple levels of interpretation and narration, where perspective, hinted at in the plane, defines not only a space and a place but, first and foremost, helps the observer direct their gaze toward multiple points.
